MERP support to Bourj Hammoud Municipality following the Beirut explosion

In the aftermath of the Beirut explosion, MERP, in partnership with Bourj Hammoud Municipality, implemented a municipal hotline system. The WhatsApp-based system will be launched in February 2021 and will allow Bourj Hammoud residents to contact the municipality with needs and requests in regard to suspected COVID-19 cases and quarantine assistance, essential shelter support related to the Beirut Port explosion, and support for people with disabilities. This cost-effective and innovative solution will enable the municipality to be more visible to the community and to be more responsive to local needs, particularly in times of crisis.
